Description
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel originated in Britain and got its name from King Charles II. It has been depicted in paintings as far back as the 15th century, always with loved ones, enjoying the good life. Sometimes referred to as the comforter spaniel, this breed truly enjoys being a lap dog and lounging around with its family. With an average size ranging from 12 to 13 inches tall at the withers, and weighing from 13 to 18 pounds, this little dog can and does enjoy long walks, hunting, or playing with the children. This breed became even more popular after being seen in the TV show Sex and the City as Charlotte Yorks dog. Their coat needs weekly brushing, but no trimming, and can come in four colors; chestnut and white, tricolor black, white and tan, ruby solid red, black and tan. The AKC recognized this charming little dog in 1995 in the toy Group.
