The Akita originates from Japan where it hunts for large game such as bear, elk and boar and is referred to as “the silent hunter”. With its keen sense of humor and high intelligence, training is best done in a positive manor. This breed will clean itself like a cat, but with its heavy thick double coat, grooming is necessary.
